1,825 days5.00 years5.00 years
3,650 days9.99 years10.00 years
10,000 days27.38 years27.40 years

The famous "1,000 days" milestone? It equals about 2 years and 9 months. And "10,000 days" (there's a Tool album by that name)? That's roughly 27.4 years.

Why 365.25 days per year?

A standard year has 365 days, but every four years we add a leap day (February 29th). Over a four-year cycle, that averages out to 365.25 days per year.

For short time spans, the difference is negligible. But over decades, it adds up - 10,000 days is 27.40 years using 365, but 27.38 years using 365.25. (cc: Tool.)

Years to days: the reverse conversion

The second section of the tool converts years to days. Enter any number of years (decimals work too) and get the equivalent in days and weeks. Try entering milestone ages:

  • 18 years = 6,575 days (adulthood in most countries)
  • 21 years = 7,671 days (legal drinking age in the US)
  • 65 years = 23,741 days (traditional retirement age)
  • 100 years = 36,525 days (a century!)
