It's June?  Are you kidding me?

Well, here's the most interesting stuff from the week... in our not so humble opinion, of course.

Links We Liked!

  • At Noahpinion, a great article on how bets, on their own don't reveal user beliefs - you have to look at an entire portfolio.  Surprisingly, no mention of Bookies - either a bookie that runs an entire book or a bookie that allows other to bet through takes both sides of bets in order to make a market (a similar mechanism, often electronic, applies to stock markets).  Still, a great read on a holistic view
  • Our friend Kathleen, writing at College Investing, broaches one of the most controversial topic in Investing - namely, why there are so few women.
  • Ironman at Political Calculations examines the White House budget proposals and spending predictions and compares them to actual results.
  • Our friend Jason Hull had an interesting piece on swishing sugar water in your mouth to avoid making bad decisions.  Interesting research here... for the record, it was glucose (Dextrose) here - no word on Fructose or Galactose.  (Yes, it IS interesting they used a monosaccharide, isn't it?)
  • How much does a coach matter to a tram's success?  Possibly less than you think; find out more at the Freakonomics blog.
  • At I Heart Budgets, Jacob defends a large emergency fund.  Our take?  It's tough to justify an E-Fund in this era of 0.5% savings rates (minus tax).  In a true emergency that escaped the wheelhouse of my various forms of insurance, I'd liquidate some stock.
  • One of the implications of massive increases in storage and a consummate reduction in privacy?  Our mistakes stay with us - and as Eric Schmidt points out, this generation of teenagers will never be able to outrun their youthful indiscretions.
  • Greg at Control Your Cash reports on his epic journey out of $0 of debt.
  • Even with the massive run-up in markets following the "half off sale" a few years back, Americans haven't gained back their pre-recession wealth.
