Using the calculator

Select your start and end dates. The calculator displays the span in quarters (one decimal), plus conversions to years, months, and days. Negative values appear when the start date comes after the end date.

Quarter contexts

  • Fiscal quarters: Q1-Q4, often offset from calendar year
  • Academic quarters: Fall, Winter, Spring (plus Summer)
  • Earnings reports: Public companies report quarterly
  • Tax estimates: Self-employed pay quarterly
