Convert your Bitcoin to dollars with our Bitcoin to USD Calculator. This tool allows you to quickly (and accurately) determine the value of your Bitcoin holdings in US dollars based on historical data.
How to use the calculator
Our Bitcoin to USD calculator is user-friendly and designed to provide accurate conversions based on historical data. Here’s how to use it:
- Input Bitcoin Amount: Enter the amount of Bitcoin you wish to convert in the Cryptocurrency Amount field.
- Example: If you have 0.5 BTC, enter 0.5 in the input box.
- Select Date: Choose the date you want to know the Bitcoin value. The calculator uses historical data to provide the conversion rate for the selected date and guesses your time zone to default to our last data.
- Calculate: Click the Calculate button to see the USD, or dollar, value of your Bitcoin. The result will be displayed in the USD Value field.
When you hit the blue button, the tool displays the USD value of your Bitcoin based on the historical exchange rate for your selected date. This feature is particularly useful for tracking the value of your Bitcoin investments over time (or lamenting not hitting the sell button!).
Bitcoin and the tool
Bitcoin was created by an anonymous person – or group of people – under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. It was introduced in 2008 in a whitepaper titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System." The first Bitcoin transaction happened in January 2009, marking the beginning of the cryptocurrency era.
This tool picks things up on July 17, 2010. I get my data from Coingecko's API merged with historical bitcoin return data from Bitcoinity.
Who can benefit from the Bitcoin to USD calculator?
The Bitcoin to USD calculator is a valuable tool for:
