Sorry about skipping a week, I've been pretty engrossed in my video card project hosted offsite on Hackaday's project log website. For those who care, right before the deadline I dropped the mic by presenting the first working prototype.
It's not built from scratch in the sense of "first, acquire a shovel, then build a fab"... but I assembled it from discrete components and wrote the firmware. If that's something you're interested in, go check it out... maybe there is something you can use (all of it is open source, licensed MIT). Still to go: linux framebuffer, NTSC support, stability.
But, I apologize for skipping the weekender! Let me make it up for you with... a Weekender.

- The Tax Foundation had a well-researched graphic (unfortunately, statewide - beggars; choosers; Bay Areans!) breaking down the actual value of $100 between states.
- Nelson at Financial Uproar discussed another possible sign of investor exuberance: high levels of margin investing. (Speaking of margins, I can see the left margin of the new logo in Firefox, my friend!).
- At Macro Man, some interesting posts this week - most interesting, however, probably coming with this observation that the Federal Reserve's job measure paints a much rosier picture than the rhetoric implies.
- It was nice to see our friend MakinSense Babe's interview on The Huffington Post - go check it out.
- Holy Potato had a nice list of Buy vs. Rent Calculators - valuation matters, people. We'd like to throw ours into the mix, since it comes at it from a different angle (appreciation vs. cost in census MSAs).
- President Len Penzo proposes some fees we should be able to levy on airlines - he gets my vote!
- Mario at Debt Blag gets philosophical and asks: "Why Blog in 2014?".
- Sandi Martin, normally of Spring Personal Finance and writing at Boomer & Echo, had a nice piece on the controversial emergency fund.
- See our friend Athena of According to Athena's interview over at Money Propeller. We also like Iceman - I've been told on multiple non-consecutive occasions that I look like Val Kilmer (not so much recently - how should I read that?).
- There was some nice attention to Holly Johnson's (normally of Club Thrifty) article on Personal Capitol questioning the mental checkpoint of $100,000 earners as 'rich'. We'll probably follow up in greater detail, but our initial thoughts are on Twitter.
