Use this chord length calculator to find the straight-line distance between two points on a circle from its radius and central angle.

Chord length calculator

Using the calculator

Enter the Radius and Angle of your chord. The calculator instantly computes the chord length along with the full circle's dimensions. Switch between degrees and radians with the angle unit dropdown.

What is a chord?

A chord is a straight line connecting two points on a circle's edge. The diameter is the longest possible chord – it passes through the center.

Chord length formula

Chord length depends on the radius and central angle:

c = 2r \sin\left(\frac{\theta}{2}\right)

Where c is the chord length, r is the radius, and θ is the central angle in radians.
