What is the Fourth Root of a Number?

In mathematics, the fourth root of a number is the number when multiplied by itself then multiplied by itself again and then multiplied by itself a final time equals the radicand, or base of the radical.

\sqrt[4]{x} =fourth\ root\ (or)\\(fourth\ root)*(fourth\ root)*(fourth\ root)*(fourth\ root)=x

In the above equations:

  • 4 = the index, denoting 4th root or fourth root
  • √ = the radical sign (radix)
  • x = the radicand, or the final value we'd get multiplying the fourth root by itself, then by itself again, then by itself again

Using the Fourth Root Calculator

To use the fourth root calculator, merely the radicand (number under the symbol to find the fourth root). Then hit the Compute Fourth Root button and we'll compute the cubic root for you in the Fourth Root box.
