November 2 Midterm Election Predictions

We figured we'd weigh in before the elections, just to get some of the estimates from various spots on paper as to what happens in the upcoming elections.  The Senate is currently composed of 57 Democratic Party, 2 Independents caucusing with the Democratic Party, and 41 Republican Party Members.  The House of Representatives is composed of 255 members of the Democratic Party, and 178 Republican Party Members.  Republicans need to gain 10 seats to control the Senate, and the Vice President breaks ties in the chamber.  Republicans need to gain 39 seats to control the House of Representatives.

Current Predictions (retreived 9:38 AM PST 11/1):

Nate Silver, Five Thirty Eight: 54-55 Republican Gains in the House, around 8 in the Senate.

Charlie Cook: 7-9 Senate Seats will Fbe gained by Republicans, and 40-50 House Seats will.

Real Clear Politics Polling Averages: 45-89 seats will be gained by Republicans in the House, Average 67.  Republicans will gain 8 Senate Seats.

Intrade Prediction Markets: (Watch these, they will change all day)...

So, it looks like the money is moving towards 60-65 seats moving to the Republicans in the House, and 8 in the Senate.  We'll check in as closely as we can on these predictions tomorrow!
