Happy New Year!
Welcome back to all of you who have been subscribed for a while, and welcome to those who have joined since the last time I wrote. I hope you all had an excellent holiday season and start to the year.
(And yes, it's been a quarter. I do plan on writing more this year – more on that, below).
In this post, let me update you on the – ahem, updates – to the more popular series on the site, and then I'll talk a little bit about my plans for the year.
Updated Posts
Last time I wrote to you all, I updated you on the most popular two series on the site: Income and Net Worth. I've gone through and updated the rest of the posts, and rather than send everything to you individually, here's the list of updates since last Weekender.
Income
- Income by State
- Income by City
- Income by Education
- Income by Race and Ethnicity
- Income by Sex
- Salary Percentile Calculator (and Salary Percentile Research)
- Salary Percentile by Age Calculator (and Salary by Age Research)
Net Worth
And don't worry; I've updated the investment calculators as well. I should be ahead of the source data for the various S&P 500 tools, and I've brought forward the other ones that need manual updates.
DQYDJ in 2024
Yes, 2023 was mostly a year of keeping the lights on (the infamous KTLO). I only wrote a few new posts and dedicated most of my time to updating the popular posts and series.
I hope to change that in 2024. I have a few posts that I've been threatening to write for a while, and I'll see if it's possible now – and maybe even see if something in this generation of Generative AI tools can help compile data sets for me.
As many of you know, much of my extra time has been going into our house (see the previous Weekenders for more, haha). I hope I'm not tempting fate, but "the end is in sight," at least for what we "need" to do. It's not zero, as events like the recent heavy New England rains revealed regarding the extent of our drainage upgrades, but it feels closer than it did at the beginning of last year.
And we're still enjoying it up here. Here's a shot from one of our recent snowstorms - 13" accumulation (1/3 of a meter, for my metric friends). And, yes, the girls thoroughly enjoyed sledding in it. That's something we didn't see in the Bay Area...
So, Happy New Year – let's make this one an excellent one! And don't hesitate to send me your post ideas. Either reply to the newsletter, or send mail through the form on the About Page.
