Use the time duration calculator to see the years, months, days, hours, and minutes between two dates and times you input.
Time Duration Between Two Dates and Times
Using the Time Duration Calculator
To use the tool to find a time duration between two times (and dates) you enter:
- Date one: Enter the first day of the calculation
- Time one: The time to start the calculation for date one
- Date two: Enter the second day of the calculation
- Time two: The time to end the calculation on date two
Once you're satisfied with the inputs, hit the blue "Calculate Time Duration" button. The tool will then output into the output textbox:
- Time Duration Calculator Output: A count of the years, months, days, hours, and minutes between the two dates and times you entered.
Can either date be in the future?
Yes, you can enter future or past dates without issue. By default, the tool will show a second date in the future, but you can edit it to be in the future or past.
Can date two be before date one?
Yes, the tool will work no matter which date comes first or second. After you run the calculation, make sure you check the text in the output; the output will show its understanding of which the 'starting' date was from your input.
Is Midnight AM or PM? Is Noon AM or PM?
Through tradition – which is all we've got to go on, here! – 12:00 PM is noon, and 12:00 AM is midnight.
Can the tool deal with leap years?
Yes, this time duration calculator can deal with leap years. Underneath the surface it uses a library which is aware of leap years, and if you cross one in the math it'll add a day to the calculation.
Duration Between Two Times
This tool is useful when you have two discrete dates and times where you'd like to know the years, months, days, hours, and minutes between. Whether you are counting down, or computing a time in the past, hopefully it helps you see the time that elapsed – or will elapse – between the times you care about.
