Here is an inverse secant calculator (or arcsec calculator), which calculates an angle from the ratio from the secant function. Enter a result and choose to return radians or degrees, then compute the angle.
Inverse Secant Calculator
Using the Arcsecant Calculator
To use the tool to find the angle from a known secant, enter the ratio and the units you'd like and compute.
- Secant - ratio of the longest side to the adjacent side
- Output Degrees or Radians? - choose to return degrees or radians
Once you're happy, click the "Compute Arccsc" button.
- Angle - the input angle to get the secant entered
What is the arcsecant or inverse secant?
Arcsecant is the inverse of the secant, which is the ratio of the hypotenuse, or longest side, to the adjacent side in a right triangle.
The hypotenuse is the longest side which constrains the arcsecant. A valid secant must be less than or equal to -1, or greater than or equal to 1.
Arcsecant as a formula
Inverse secant is usually abbreviated as "arcsec" or "asec", as in the following equation:
arcsec(y)=asec(y)
Where it is the inverse of secant, or:
x=arcsec(y)\\y=sec(x)
